While the auto major Ford India refused to give away the Splash brand to Maruti Suzuki for the Ritz in the Indian market but the company has recently said that it has no plans to launch any product under the brand in the coming years.
Ford India President and Managing Director Michael Boneham recently said that the company has no intention to sue the Splash brand in India so far as the company will be naming its products under the global brands going forward in the domestic circuit.
While Boneham declined to comment on the issue of withdrawing the name from the authorities, it may easily be recalled that the move literally forced Suzuki to change its global hatchback with the same name to 'Ritz' to sell in the country.
It is to be mentioned here that MSI, the country's largest carmaker, manufactures both petrol and diesel versions of 'Ritz' at its Gurgaon facility.
While Suzuki launched 'Splash' in 2007, it may be noted here that the car is manufactured in Hungary and Japan, and is sold in Japan and across all Europe.
