Synutra to Open its Milk-Powder Plant for Public InspectionAfter carefully going through the reports, which revealed that milk powder led to the development of breasts in babies, the Health Ministry has ordered a probe in the Chinese baby-formula maker, Synutra International, which will open its milk powder factories for public inspection.

The Chinese Company today said in its statement that it buys the components from France's Euroserum, New Zealand's Fonterra Cooperative Group Ltd. and Heilongjiang province. Further, yesterday the Company had reaffirmed that their products were not harmful.

The largest exporter of the world, China, has experienced failure in the food and product safety, with melamine-tainted milk powder, which killed at least 6 babies and about 300,000 kids, suffered illness in 2008.

China Daily reported yesterday that samples of milk power produced by Synutra are being checked by the Health Ministry, after parents in Hubei complained about three infant girls who developed prematurely.

"Synutra welcomes consumers and the media to visit our plants for an inspection. If there was a problem with the ingredients, and Synutra didn't detect it, it would be a quality check failure by Synutra", the Company said in its statement.

The Health Times newspaper reported on August 5 that after the medical examination of the three girls between the ages of four months and 15 months, experts say that high levels of hormone estradiol was found in their bodies and all the three girls were given the same formula.
