Singapore's SingTel second quarter net profit drops 0.2%

SingTelSingapore's leading telecom operator Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. has announced its financial results for second quarter of the fiscal year 2010-11.

The company has informed that, in this reviewed quarter it has suffered a marginal decrease in its net profit figure as compared to it corresponding quarter last year. The company is also known as SingTel.

The company has said that it has posted reasonable amount of profit and revenue form its local and Australian mobile operations.

But the earnings from India, the Philippines and Indonesia division are not that impressive.

The company has suffered lower earnings from these locations which has pulled the net figure down. SingTel has informed that it has posted a net profit of943 million Singapore dollars ($690 million) during the April-June quarter of fiscal year 2010-11; where as the firm's net profit was reported to be SG$945 million for the similar quarter in the previous fiscal year.

Operating revenue of the firm is found out to be SG$4.29 billion Q2 of this year against SG$3.85 billion for its like period a year ago. There has been a growth of 12% in the operating revenue of the company in this reviewed quarter.
