The British firm, Cairn Energy has shown interest to do business in India and it is involved in talks with the Indian mining group Vedanta Resources.
The Edinburgh firm Cairn Energy has confirmed that both the parties are interested in the deal and having opened discussion about the deal. Cairn Energy has a 62.37% interest in the Bombay listed company Cairn India.
However, the company has not given further details about the deal to the media.
The shares value of the Cairn Energy has gone up after the announcement of its talks with the Vedanta. Vedanta is one of the leading mining companies of India.
In a statement from the Cairn Energy, it has said that the company is so excited to do business with the Indian Inc. Cairn India is interested for total number of 11 acreage blocks both in Sri Lanka and India.
The British firm has reported a sharp rise in its profits from its India operations in the first quarter of this year and expecting for more in the coming quarterly reports.
