Morspace survey: Verizon-compatible iPhone 4 eagerly awaited by many subscribers

Verizon-compatible iPhone 4 eagerly awaited by many subscribersGoing by a recent report by market research firm Morspace, the launch of a Verizon-compatible iPhone 4 is being eagerly awaited by a substantial number of subscribers; thereby indicating a potential threat for AT&T as well as Android.

According to a survey conducted by Morspace, out of the 1,000 customers that participated in the survey, the majority that expressed keen interest in a Verizon-compatible iPhone comprised the current Verizon customers.

Morspace statistics revealed that 51 percent of the existing Verizon subscribers said they were waiting to buy an iPhone on the Verizon network; while 29 percent of all survey respondents said they were somewhat or very likely to buy the Verizon-compatible device. In addition, most of the potential sales of the Verizon iPhone will likely come from Android and BlackBerry customers.

In terms of a switch over from the other three leading US carriers, 20 percent of T-Mobile customers; 22 percent of Sprint subscribers; and 23 percent of all AT&T subscribers said that they would be interested in switching to Verizon for an iPhone. However, 47 percent of the AT&T iPhone users said they "would consider" a switch to Verizon after the iPhone becomes available on the carrier.

Furthermore, the fact that more than one-third of the current iPhone users, who have not yet upgraded to the newest iPhone 4, said they were waiting for the device's launch on another carrier before they upgrade, clearly indicates significant pent up demand for a Verizon-compatible iPhone 4.
