BlackBerry makers Research in Motion (RIM) have assured the Indian Government that a solution will be found in time to resolve the security reasons being raised by the Indian authorities. It is confident that it will not have to stop BlackBerry smartphone services it is offering in India.
Research In Motion (RIM) officials also met with Indian officials on Friday to discuss this issue. The Government is also looking to target Companies like Google and Skype and wants to take steps to ensure that the country is protected from cyber-spying and internet attacks.
RIM has to provide the Indian authorities with the capability to read email and instant messages sent through BlackBerry smartphones by August 31. If it fails to do so, it will no longer be allowed to offers services in India.
The Company will not want to close services in India as it is the fastest growing telecom market in the world.
It has earlier faced a lot of pressure from various countries over security concerns. Many Governments fear that terrorists may use BlackBerry for sending messages.
RIM Vice President Robert Crow also expressed optimism that the issue will be resolved timely and the Company will be able to address all the concerns of the Indian authorities.
