The US government has said that it will not work as a mediator between the Indian government and Research in Motion (RIM), the maker of BlackBerry.
RIM has been asked by the Indian authorities to provide access to some of its mobile messaging services or face a ban that is going to be applicable from August 31.
Indian authorities have found that some of the service that are provided through the smartphone can prove to be a threat to internal security.
The ultimatum was issued just hours after senior officials from the government, intelligence and the state-run telecom companies came together to discuss about the security issues.
Meanwhile, the US State Department said in a statement, "While we have been in touch with our foreign partners, this is a matter for RIM to work out directly with Indian officials."
A spokesperson from government said that if by August 31, a technical solution is not possible for BlackBerry issue then the services are going to be blocked completely.
A three-member panel from BlackBerry already met the authorities and has discussed about the notice. No decision came out of it till now.
