According to Morpace’s Omnibus Report, a recent survey of 1,000 consumers shows that the majority of present customers of Verizon – as many as 51 percent - are apparently keen on switching over to the rumored Verizon iPhone as and when it is launched.
Interestingly, almost 29 percent of all study participants, who happened to be subscribers of different carriers, said that they intend the switch to a non-AT&T iPhone, no matter what the carrier.
The survey by the market research & consulting firm also found that overall, 20 percent of T-Mobile subscribers, 22 percent of Sprint subscribers, and 23 percent of AT&T subscribers, said that they were “somewhat/very likely to purchase an iPhone with Verizon.”
Furthermore, among the current owners of the AT&T version of the iPhone, 47 percent customers said that they would switch over to the Verizon version even though they already own an iPhone.
In addition, as many as 34 percent iPhone users, who wish to upgrade to the iPhone’s latest model, said that they have deferred the upgrading of their existing handsets as they are waiting for the release of the Verizon iPhone.
Commenting on the findings, the Morpace report said: “As successful as the Apple iPhone has been, many mobile consumers who have been attracted to an iPhone have not switched to the AT&T network simply based on the popularity of Apple's smart phone.”
