Release of a data on global warming by National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (Niwa) has made it to face a price that it had never expected. The body has been dragged to the court over doubts on the accuracy and consistency of the data compiled by it that was used to calculate global warming.
The New Zealand Climate Science Coalition claimed that it has filed a lawsuit with the High Court, calling for revoking the official temperatures record compiled by state-owned weather and atmospheric research institution of the country.
Besides, Niwa has been witnessing severe rebuke by many climate skeptics and ACT Party over its temperature data earlier also.
Several scientists are of the belief that although the earth had been heating up for 150 years, it had not marked temperature rise as much as Government archives have claimed, Coalition spokesman Bryan Leyland pointed.
He further insisted that unlike the New Zealand Meteorological Service that had claimed nothing regarding earth warming up, Niwa recent records have highlighted a warming trend of 1degC.
The warming figure was significantly exaggerated, nearly 50%v above the global average, pointed Mr Leyland.
Now, the coalition seeks the court ruling to inhibit Niwa from making use of NZTR.
