“Antennagate” hits Verizon’s new Android-based Motorola Droid 2

“Antennagate” hits Verizon’s new Android-based Motorola Droid 2According to a recent TechCrunch report, the antenna issue, which had thus far affected the iPhone 4, is now supposedly being complained about by the users of Verizon's new Android-based Motorola Droid 2 as well - apparently marking a substantiation of sorts of the Apple argument that the antenna problem is actually an engineering issue.

As per TechCrunch, "a good number of reports" reveal that the Droid 2 users of Verizon's new Motorola handset - the shipments of which began only a few days back - are complaining about signal problems even without touching the device.

Furthermore, TechCrunch said that all the four Droid 2 users, who were tested by Engadget in its review of the handset, demonstrated "endlessly fluctuating bar counts."

While only a couple Droid 2 users said that they did not have any problem with the device, most of the users of phone said that said they had experienced either signal problems or trouble with low battery life.

However, there is a key difference between the "antennagate" problem - a term that the media coined for iPhone 4's antenna issue - of the iPhone 4 and the Droid 2. While issue can be resolved in the iPhone by either holding the handset in a more open grip or by using the phone within a case, the Droid 2 users are reportedly experiencing the signal problems even when the device is sitting idle or when it is held in open grip!
