According to experts, the web companies like Google have been benefited from the free and open internet services and this plan would hamper them. Many public and consumer advocacy groups are taking part in the protest.

The companies have made plans for a fast lane with a tier for premium content. This could result the users to pay for using the internet in the 21st century.

The proposals were proposed buy the search giant Google and the telecom firm Verizon. The plans would undermine the principle of internet neutrality where all the web data would be treated as the same.
