Psoriasis is an auto-immune skin disease which causes scaly lesions, redness and inflammation of the skin. The National Psoriasis Foundation says that 2.5 percent of Caucasians and 1.3 percent of African-Americans suffer from this skin disease.
The exact cause of the disease is till not known but doctors believe that something triggers the immune system, which in turn sets off a chain reaction that causes skin cells to reproduce too quickly.
