Agrium, which is a Canada based fertilizers Company, is planning to complete its target to takeover agribusiness AWB, within two weeks.
Chief Executive of Agrium, Mike Wilson told the reporters that they are hoping to complete the target in the next few weeks.
Agrium, which is the second largest fertilizer producer in Canada, has revealed its $1.24 billion bid for AWB at $1.50 cash for each share of AWB, on Monday.
Mr. Wilson said that for Agrium, Australia is a logical place for expansion and in the past five years, it has completed its 10 acquisitions at other places, as well.
Now, Agrium has been looking forward to carry out a business in Australia over the past three years and it has decided to takeover AWB, which according to them is a pure-play agriculture Company than Elders that has control over the other main national rural services and merchandise network.
When Mr. Wilson was asked as to whether they intend to break up AWB, he said that at this point of time, they had no such plans, as grain distribution by AWB is an operation that naturally fits the expertise of Agrium.
"Agrium plans on bringing value to Australia, not destroying it. We value the history, we value the brand that AWB brings", he added.
