The ex-chief executive of BP, Lord Browne has unveiled that he had never discussed about the release of Lockerbie bomber while having talks with the leader of Libya. He had worked as the BP boss for 12 years and retired in the year 2007.
He had met the Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi twice to discuss about the oil and gas exploration in Libya.
The ex-BP boss has also said in his statement in the Edinburgh International Book Festival that he had not requested the government of UK for the release of Abdelbaset al-Megrahi to help the oil giant BP for a deal.
Megrahi was jailed in the year 2001 as he was found guilty for the bombing of 1988 in the Lockerbie town of Scotland, which killed 270 people.
The accused bomber was released from the jail before a year as he was suffering from a terminal prostate cancer. Lord Brown said the deal of BP with the North African country Libya was signed after he left the company.
Meanwhile the US Senate has investigated this issue and found that the oil giant BP had put pressure on the government of UK and Scotland to release the Libyan citizen to aid the oil deal.
