The threat of a strike action by the employees of six airports operated by BAA in UK has been lifted as the operator BAA introduced a new pay offer. The Spanish firm BAA and the Unite union agreed for a settlement of this issue in the Monday talks.
A strike action was proposed with the engineers, firefighters and security guards because of a pay dispute with the BAA.
The agreement of lifting the threat of strike action came after nine hours of talks but the details of the new pay offer are yet to be disclosed. The talks of Monday have averted the possible strike action in the bank holiday period of August.
National Secretary of the Unite, Brendan Gold has said that the operator BAA has given a much improved pay offer for the workers and the workers would be very happy to accept the new pay offer.
He has said that he was pretty confident that any strike action could be averted in the later stage. According to him, a balloting process will take place among the workers about the new pay offer and the result would be declared within next three weeks.
