A year-on-year growth of 34 % has been observed in the sale of personal computers in India which amounted to a sale of 2.13 lakh PCs from April to June this year. IDC India has reported a 5.8 upsurge in the sale of PCs since the last quarter.
A 24 % escalation in the sale of desktop computers was also marked with desktop computers being 75% of the total number of PCs sold while notebooks computers recorded a growth of 61 % since last year.
Dell has come up to be the largest seller of PCs, which includes both desktop computers and notebook computers, with a stake of 15.2%. HP is second in the league with 14.3% followed by Acer with a share of 11.5 % as indicated by the report of IDC.
Talking of only desktop PCs, HP continued to hold its first position with a stake of 10.2% in the market while Dell also continued to retain its position at the top in case of notebook PCs. The growth in sale of PCs in the second quarter of 2010 by 6% indicates the consistent revival of our economy.
