Stroke Care Found With Many Serious-Level Faults in Wales

Stroke Care Found With Many Serious-Level Faults in WalesMany serious level faults have been discovered in stroke services that are offered in Wales.

An audit that is carried out on a yearly basis has once again found the stroke services in Wales full of shortcomings and that it lags behind those services that are offered in England and Northern Ireland.

The report has underlined the shortage of 24-hour service that makes sure for patients that they can avail emergency services whenever they need to.

A mere two of the UK's 75 acute stroke units are in Wales and the country does not have many qualified nurses who can serve as caretakers of the patients.

This is the sixth year that the audit has found the shortcomings in Welsh stroke services.

The report has been printed by the Royal College of Physicians, however, it does not inform about the level of improvement that may have come in stroke services in Wales.

Each year, over 2,000 people give in after they suffer stroke in Wales and thousands more experience long-term disabilities.

Regardless of the level of problem experienced, the annual audit report depicted that services in Wales have not yet reach the level of services offered in other parts of the nation.
