On Friday, a second Iowa egg producer announced one more extensive recall, which the Minnesota Department of Health has associated with an outburst of seven additional cases of salmonella.
Hillandale Farms of New Hampton's spokesperson in Iowa said that almost 170 million eggs had been recalled after a laboratory test gave confirmation that salmonella illnesses were linked with the product manufactured by them.
In the previous week, Wright County Egg, which is another egg firm in Iowa, recalled 380 million eggs that were regarding a salmonella epidemic, which sickened over 1,000 people, and is one of the biggest recalls ever in the history.
As per the Food and Drug Management, the salmonella strain found in both the recalls was same.
Minnesota health officers associated Hillandale Farms eggs to seven instances of salmonella in the month of May, which originated from a Bemidji restaurant, Mi Rancho.
Previously this week, the Health Department associated seven other salmonella cases to outbreak in the Wright County Egg, where four of them took place at a St. Paul restaurant in the month of July and three at a restaurant in Rochester in May.
Out of the seven victims, one had been hospitalized but for a short duration.
