A survey conducted recently has outlined that Internet sales marked a steep rise in July, deemed to be their fastest climb witnessed after recession. The main driver of their robust sales is claimed to be the wet weather that nudged people to shop from home only.
IMRG, an industry arm for global e-retailing, posted that web sales registered a rise of 18% in July, as compared with the same period the preceding year, thus its steepest climb since 2007.
In addition, it outlined that over £5bn of online shopping has been attributed to Britons in July, significantly more compared to other months of this year.
Besides, the travel sales have also shown a rise by over 33% as compared to the figures recorded the previous year, posted IMRG.
"Although online retail sales survived the recession more convincingly than high street sales, the last two years or so have no doubt been shaky at times", posted Chris Webster, Head of retail consulting and technology at Cap Gemini, which compiles the online sales index with IMRG.
The Office for National Statistics highlighted that the sales volumes recorded have marked a surge of 1.1% in contrast with June, with almost every non-food sector registering robust growth.
