Building High-Speed Railway Network Requires Huge Money

Building High-Speed Railway Network Requires Huge MoneyGovernments of both the UK and the US are planning to build high-speed railway networks in their respective countries. But the officials of many states of these two countries believe that this will be a very costly affair.

In the United Kingdom, opponents feel that building the London-Birmingham high-speed rail link will leave the Government with huge bills. They also believe that the compensation bill will exceed beyond £50 million estimate.

On the other hand, Obama administration's plans to build high-speed railway tracks in the country will also require large sum of money, and the Government will not be able to bear the expenses.

The proposed rail route in the UK will cover Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, and Warwickshire regions and will also include beautiful villages in the Chilterns Area.

For the proposed High Speed Two (HS2) project, people who live near these tracks will have to sell their property immediately at a price much lower than the market value.

Steve Rodrick, Chief Officer of the Chilterns Conservation Board, says that the government will soon get thousands of applications. He further says that people are already going through financial loss; many are not selling their houses and the property dealers are warning people that selling property will get tougher in coming days.

Last year, the Obama Government and Congress kept aside $8 billion for building 13 regional, high-speed railway tracks. But officials in California, Ohio, and Wisconsin region are not backing these projects.
