Nokia Buys Motally for Undisclosed Sum

Nokia Buys MotallyOn Friday, Nokia made a declaration that it has inked a deal to buy US mobile analytics firm, Motally.

Details regarding the cost of the deal have not been disclosed. With this acquisition, Nokia would be able to understand how people make use of the cell phone apps, together with the third-party software on the iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and BlackBerry.

It is speculated that the deal would be finalized by the third quarter of this year. The Finnish mobile phone major has agreed to “continue serving Motally’s existing customer base”.

Also, the Company would acclimatize Motally’s services for Qt, Symbian, Meego, and Java developers. It did not offer any particulars that who will assemble the data or if they intend to trail music, map, and app usage patterns on its own Ovi service by making use of Motally’s services.

Motally’s analytics tools are helpful in recognizing carrier or user locations. And Nokia intends to make this procedure simpler for publishers and developers. Motally is a privately-held firm that was established in 2008. This eight-person Company aims to reach the top in mobile analytics.

It employs a patent-pending technology for assembling of the data, in-application tracking, and analytic reporting.
