Many Americans Can’t Afford Health Insurance

Insurance2In the United States, the health care reform policy mainly concentrates on revenues rather than citizens’ health.

It is worth mentioning that in America many people don’t opt for health care, as the private insurance companies keep increasing the premium amount in order to pay salaries of many bigwigs who already draw huge pay package.

According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, as many as 25% Americans didn’t use their health care insurance at the time of global recession between the years 2007 and 2009. The percentage is two to five times more than other countries like UK, Canada, Germany, and France.

The reason for this reduced usage of health care is that around 15% of Americans don’t have an insurance policy, whereas other nations have near-universal health care insurance.

As per the report by Health Care for America NOW (HCAN), most CEOs of the U.S. health care firms earned virtually $1 billion in the previous year—the amount that people of Philadelphia, Dallas, and Minneapolis altogether can use to consult a doctor.

Canadians feel that they are lucky to have a national publicly funded health care reform system.

One of Canada’s major labour organizations, the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE), has more than 340,000 members. The main duty of NUPGE is to provide adequate health care to every citizen of Canada.
