Motorola – the most notable contender for the Apple iPad!

appleThough there have of late been numerous rumors as well as actual announcements of potential iPad-challenger tablet devices forthcoming from a number of bigwig manufacturers, the most notable of all contenders apparently is Motorola – or more specifically, the dynamic Motorola-Verizon pair!

Even though there are talks making rounds about several possible iPad-killers - like Research in Motion (RIM)’s “Black Pad”; Google’s HTC-manufactured gPad; Asus’ Eee Pad; and LG’s Optimus Tablet; among others -, it is Motorola that may pose a notable threat to Apple.

Going by the speculations, if Motorola can come up with a sleek, aesthetically-appealing and functional tablet device, boasting a snappy, user-friendly interface and long battery life, it will most certainly be able to give the Apple iPad a run for its money!

Already, Motorola has proved its mettle by being the most capable and consistent competitor to the Apple iPhone, which supposedly is an iPad antecedent in many ways. The original Motorola Droid was one of the first high-end smartphones to be deemed an above-board rival to the iPhone; and the new Motorola releases – the Droid X and the Droid 2 – are also hitting enviable sales numbers.

In fact, some analysts and reporters are of the opinion that the Droid X can well be considered Motorola’s trial run for a tablet – especially because of the handset’s 4.3-inch diagonal screen, which is clearly colossal by smartphone standards!
