China’s Hunan provincial capital, Changsha,  has a baby who weighs 20 kg and is 10 months old. This is equivalent to a child of six years and the doctors are puzzled about this case because apart from the excessive weight the baby is healthy.

The baby was suffering from fever due to which he went to a children’s hospital this month. His parents say that his weight is because of breast feeding and sleeping. His photo was put up on a government website and it said that his cheeks looked like “a mouth filled with two small balloons” and his limbs were like “stacked hula hoops of fat.”

He was also described as the “Michelin baby” after the familiar mascot of the Michelin tire company.

The doctors have been unable to find a medical reason for his super size but they believe that this baby embodies China’s growing obesity problem. They also warned parents to guard against excessive weight gain by their children, before it led to health problems.

As per a Chinese health ministry statement more than 60 million people are obese in China.
