Although the Chief Judge Royce C. Lamberth of Federal District Court of the District of Columbia declared it illegal on Monday, embryonic stem cell researches would keep on going for a while, as Obama’s Administration called for an appeal.
Representatives from the Democratic Party announced that this decision would put a halt to the expansions planned for these researches since the year 2009 and would ‘block’ President Obama’s orders to increase the investigation in that field of biomedicine.
In a news conference held on Tuesday, the Head of the National Institutes of Health in the U. S., Francis Collins, commented on the judge’s decision saying, "I was stunned, as was virtually everyone here at NIH. Stem cell research offers true potential for scientific discovery, and hope for families. This decision has just poured sand into that engine of discovery".
On the other hand, some parts of the Government actually welcomed the decision saying that it is ‘morally’ unacceptable that the Government is using the money given by U. S. tax payers to fund such a ‘destructive’ study. According to Chairman of the House Republican Caucus, Representative Mike Pence of Indiana stated that the Government should be funding these kinds of researches destroy a life in order to create another.
