Tidal power project worth 70 million pounds displayed in Anglesey

Tidal-Power-70-AngleseyThe plans of a tidal power project of 70 million pounds which would produce electricity from tidal power were displayed for public view at Holyhead in Anglesey.

The firms working behind the project, RWE npower renewables and Marine Current Turbines are hoping to generate one fifth of the total electricity needs of the island. As per the plan seven turbines would act like an underwater mill between Carmel and Skerries. A display of this plan is going on at Holyhead for two days.

It went on public display after the technical studies were carried out on the project for last 18 months.

The tidal firm of 10 mega watt is planned to be located just 1 kilo meter away of the island at the Skerries, which is a group of rocks and like a small island. The developers who thought about the project before two years said the tidal stream of Skerries was very effective for any tidal energy firm.

This project application is due to be submitted before the Welsh Assembly Government in the coming month and the commissioning would start in 2013-14.
