Many Patients Have Launched Complaints Against NHS

PatientsAs per the NHS Information Centre, a lot of people are facing problems like misdiagnosis, negligence, and lack of proper care from the NHS.

A record number of written complaints have been launched against NHS hospitals and community health services in the United Kingdom.

At least 42.2% people have grievance about the treatment method, 12.2% have problem with the attitude of hospital workers, and 8.5% are not happy with the approach of administrative staff members.

Katherine Murphy, association’s Chief Executive, says that too many complaints from patients are a cause of concern.

She further added that the association will review the complaint process and try to solve the problem at the earliest and will also take necessary measures to improve the health care facilities in the hospitals.

It is worth mentioning that the number of complaints has gone up from 89,139 in 2008-09 to 101,077 the previous year.

The complaint report is compulsory for all NHS hospital and community services whereas it is voluntary for the 130 foundation trusts.

The number of complaints keeps changing each year. Since 1997-98, an annual increase of 1.1% has been reported.

Andrew Lansley, Health Secretary, wants a thorough change in the NHS reform policy.
