In this year’s Romeo Bragato Wine Awards, total 458 medals have been won by the winners. Out of 458 medals, there were 249 bronze medals, 56 gold medals and 153 silver medals.
Total 775 entries were being judged across three categories such as taste and general impression, color and clarity and aroma and bouquet.
According to the Chairman of Judges, Olly Masters, there were high quality entries in this year’s award and even the standard of Bragato has become so high that it has come into the list of key award programs in the industry.
"There is a very strong group of wines; most pleasing was the great range of styles present in all varieties showing the care growers are taking to reflect their sites. There will be something to please all consumers", Mr. Masters said.
Bragato Awards are the only grape grower awards of New Zealand, which takes place every year as part of the Romeo Bragato conference.
Along with the declaration of the winner of the Silver Secateurs Award and the Young Viticulturist of the Year, the names of the trophy winners will be announced at the annual Romeo Bragato conference awards dinner, which will be held at Marlborough Lines Stadium 2000 in Blenheim on Saturday August 28.
