A number of people are making plans for the August Bank Holiday that would be the last holiday prior to Christmas and it won’t be hindered by works going in South Wales.
It has been expected that around 25,000 passengers would make their departure from Cardiff Airport in the weekend. Some more would be travelling by roads in anticipation of rainstorm and having faced the brunt of the economic downturn.
The travelers would start trafficking from the afternoon and the crowd would get enlarged by the evening and the most occupied time would be Monday afternoon when they would return back, as stated by an AA Roadwatch spokesman. He further added that last year the Bank Holiday created an obstruction and they got 33,000 call-outs.
He said, “One reason the August Bank Holiday is one of the busiest weekends of the year is because of all the cultural and sporting events that take place on the final weekend of summer”.
There is a three-day international British Beach Volleyball tournament at Barry Island and Cardiff Bay is hosting the annual Cardiff Harbour Festival, which would keep the roads busy. There could be delays on the routes of M4, with enhanced traffic on the A48 and the A4232.
The most favoured destinations by travelers could be Paris, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Dublin and Jersey. Others can plan longer vacations at Egypt, Tunisia and Malta, taking benefit of post-school holidays prices.
The construction works at some of the routes like M4 have been halted due to rains, but there won’t be any cessation to emergency work.
