Spill panel examines offshore drilling policyThe US offshore drilling guidelines will be looked into by the White House Oil Spill Commission and an autonomous institution meant to supervise strong security standards would be set up which the oil industry would be forced to consent to.

A second meeting has been called which will have Nancy Sutley, the White House Council on Environment Quality and various other officials of the inside Departments participating in it.

The independent body that would act like a regulatory body would be modeled on the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) which performs the function of providing assistance in monitoring of nuclear power plant safety.
