Motorola Droid X bags the top spot in Laptop Magazine’s battery-testing contest

Motorola Droid X bags the top spot in Laptop Magazine’s battery-testing contest The results of Laptop Magazine's battery-testing contest for Android-based devices show that the Motorola Droid X handset bagged the top spot, with its battery boasting the ability to run the handset for 7 hours and
42 minutes.

The second and third positions of the battery-life contest were bagged respectively by the Dell Streak tablet that ran for 7 hours, 35 minutes; and the Motorola Droid handset that ran for 7 hours, 7 minutes.

The Android device that came in at the last spot was the HTC Incredible handset whose battery exhausted after 4 hours and 33 minutes.

Furthermore, going by the test measures set by Laptop, the batteries of smartphones with active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED), or Super AMOLED displays - including the Samsung Captivate, Samsung Vibrant, and even HTC Incredible - ended up with the poorest performances.

The test, which was created by Laptop's Web director, has all the participating Android devices running an Android application.

As per Laptop Magazine, the app that was run on the devices "opens the phone's Web browser to one of 60 popular Websites, remains there for 60 seconds, closes the browser, then reopens the browser to the next Website on the list. It does so until the phone's battery dies, all while recording the time elapsed."

The final results were based on the average of the two tests that each handset was made to undergo.
