According to the most recent statistics shared by 148Apps.biz web site, the July 2008-started App Store currently boasts over 250,000 apps – precisely 252,227 active apps - for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
As per the more specific 148Apps.biz metrics, the App Store achieved the first feat of 50,000 active applications in nearly 11 months after the inception of the service – and, from there on, the ramp up has been enviably dramatic.
The next lot of 50,000 apps was added by the App Store within four-to-five months – that is, in less than half the time taken for the first milestone. Furthermore, in another three months’ span, the App Store achieved the 150,000 apps landmark; and another about three months to leap to 200,000 apps.
Going by the assumption that the App Store retains its current trend of the 3-months-or-so growth rate, 148Apps.biz predicts that the company is apparently on track to hit the ‘500,000 active apps’ milestone in the net 18 months – implying the likelihood of the feat by the end of 2011 or the beginning of 2012.
Meanwhile, other interesting statistics forwarded by 148apps.biz included the revelation that it would apparently cost a user approximately $673,362 to purchase every single application and game available in the App Store. With a little over 74,000 apps and games being completely free, the total purchase amount will include the 83,000 applications and games priced at $1, along with the five programs priced at $1,000.
