The Corporate Reputation Index that evaluates the reputation of New Zealand’s 20 largest employers based on the responses of survey conducted on people with ages 18-64 ranked New Zealand Post on the top, while the lowest position was attained by Telecom New Zealand.
AMR Interactive, a research consultancy and the Australasian associate of the worldwide Reputation Institute, generates the index and the method employed for their construction is similar to as followed by 32 other countries. In New Zealand, the study was performed for the first time.
The second most reputed employer came out to be Air New Zealand, in which the State has a major stake. The airline grabbed the top position, moving ahead of Qantas in the segment of products, innovation and workplace.
In terms of citizenship, ASB bank won the third rank while the Bank of New Zealand got the fourth position. Overall, their ranks were seventh and ninth, respectively. The case was not so in Australia’s survey.
“The high ranking of banks in New Zealand was remarkable, particularly given the global financial crisis”, said Steve Grbic, Managing Director of Core Communications, the Reputation Institute's public relations firm.
In terms of financial performance, leadership, citizenship and governance, the Warehouse took the first position while it achieved second rank for innovation and slid to fourth rank in overall performance. The overall third rank was captured by Farmers.
