Going by the details leaked on NotebookItalia, the forthcoming Toshiba SmartPad – which will be called the ‘Toshiba Folio 100’ – is packed with some outstanding features that make the device the first notable challenger to the Apple iPad.
According to the specs leaked, the Android 2.2 ‘Froyo’-based Toshiba Folio 100 will boast a 10.1-inch multitouch widescreen WSVGA display; a Nvidia Tegra 2 processor; 16GB built-in memory; an HDMI port; 802.11b/g/n WiFi; Bluetooth; 3G; USB 2.0 standard; USB 2.0 mini audio jack; and SD card reader with support up to 32GB.
In addition, some of the other compelling features of the Toshiba Folio 100 tablet include a pair of stereo speakers; a microphone; GPS; a 1.3-megapixel webcam; and 7 hours of battery life.
If the leaked specs are any indication, the Toshiba Folio 100 apparently has several attractive features that may help the tablet compete substantially with the iPad. In fact, another distinct feature that the Tosibha tablet boasts over its popular Apple counterpart is that it supports the Opera Mobile Browser with Flash 1.10.
Furthermore, the prospects of the Toshiba Folio 100 are further enhanced buy the fact that Toshiba intends starting its own small app store to complement the Android Market.
