 Android 2.2 ‘Froyo’ now available on the HTC Droid Incredible In a recent conformation on its Twitter page, Verizon said that the Google Android’s newest 2.2 version – which is also known by the trendy codename ‘Froyo’ – is now available for its HTC Droid Incredible users, who will soon be able to access the updated version.

Noting that the Android 2.2 takes up 93.7 MB, Verizon said that the download of the updated version brings along a wide array of notable features, which include a much enhanced Wi-Fi connection; Flash 10.1 capability; a speedier browser, and improves overall performance.

One of the most noteworthy new features of the Android 2.2 ‘Froyo’ is that it boasts the ability to turn a handset into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot; thereby leading to the creation of a virtual access point which the users can connect to with a laptop or any other Wi-Fi device.

Noting that the Android 2.2 roll out to all users may take a few days, Verizon added that Droid Incredible users will soon receive a message on their handset about the OS update. The message will have a “click now” icon, the pressing of which will initiate the download.

The roll out of the ‘Froyo’ for the HTC Droid Incredible adds yet another plus to the already-compelling handset, about which Joshua Topolsky of Engadget said: “The Droid Incredible is the best Android device that you can purchase in America right now. It’s not just a very, very good Android phone; it’s also an excellent smartphone no matter how you cut it.”
