The production problems that were supposedly hitting the supply of the April-launched Apple iPad have apparently been resolved, and the supply of the device has finally caught up with the demand – with the shipping time of the new online orders for the device having recently improved to within 24 hours!
While customers had initially to wait for an estimated 7-10 days for their iPad order to ship, the new orders for all the models of the Wi-Fi-only as well as 3G-capable iPad, now ship within 24 hours after their purchase from Apple’s official online store.
For months, Apple virtually struggled to meet the increasing demand for the revolutionary iPad device largely because the different component suppliers failed in getting the orders to the company fast enough.
In fact, it has taken Apple quite a while to speed up the noticeably slow production process of the iPad. The unexpectedly high demand for the device actually resulted in the company virtually running out of the product the first weekend itself – a situation that has taken Apple nearly four months to catch up with!
With Apple executives noting that the enviably high initial demand for the iPad had taken them off guard, the international launch of the touchscreen tablet was also delayed by a month due to the supply shortages that the company was facing. As such, the device was launched in several overseas markets only towards the end of May.
