According to a Government report, from September 1 India will be lawfully able to access the BlackBerry data.
India had earlier expressed its fear that terrorists and other militant groups could misuse BlackBerry or Internet and make plans for attacking the nation.
Therefore, the Government of India requested Companies like Research In Motion (RIM), Skype, and Google to install their servers in India so that complete monitoring of the services is possible from Indian soil itself.
The Government of India has not yet revealed much about the proposals from RIM. Indian officials said that the Government wants the access of BlackBerry services in its law enforcement agencies by Aug. 31. In case the service providers are unable to provide access, then BlackBerry services will be debarred in India.
It is worth mentioning that the shares of RIM went up significantly when the RIM authorities indicated that India could get permission to monitor BlackBerry networks. The Government of India has told that in the coming 60 days it will decide on the viability of the solutions proposed by Canada-based telecom Company.
It is apposite to note that previously this month RIM agreed to provide access to its services in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabian Government had also warned that it would ban BlackBerry services if RIM will not allow access to some of its services.
