BHP Billiton has refused to the plans of divesting assets of Potash if deal succeeds

BHP Billiton has refused to the plans of divesting assets of Potash if deal succeeds The mining giant BHP Billiton has refused that it has not any plan to sell the assets of the Potash Corp if it succeeds in its 38.6 billion dollars hostile bid to take over the largest fertilizer producer of the world. But the analysts are expecting that the mining giant would think about selling the unnecessary assets for its core strategy to dominate the global potash industry.

If BHP decides to sell the assets the front line buyer will be the Canadian firm Agrium, which is a fertilizer maker and retailer of agricultural products.

Agrium has shown its interest in buying the phosphate and nitrogen assets of Potash Corp. The assets are estimated to stand at 12 billion dollars.

The refusal statement from BHP Billiton about the sale of the assets came as a response to a note from a Soleil Securities analyst, Mark Gulley. He has heard that, the Australian mining giant is considering to sell the nitrogen and phosphate assets of Potash Corp as a part of the deal if the deal completes successfully.

However, BHP has said that its main aim is to complete the deal successfully.
