The Commerce Commission in New Zealand has decided to knock the door of High Court in Auckland in order to file a case against those Companies who have been involved in supplying of international freight forwarding services in the nation.
On Thursday, the commission said that the investigation against these Companies who were found to be involved in the price fixing matter started in the year 2007.
The Commerce Commission today issued a statement and said that the allegations are related to execution of surcharges and fees that are implemented on air freight forwarding services in and out of New Zealand with the intention of controlling the costs in the market.
The Commission also mentioned that the agreements are against the Commerce Act.
In the wake of this problem, some Companies even came to the commission for some kind of settlement prior of the filing of the case.
Companies like EGL Inc. and Geologistics International (Bermuda) Ltd. managed to resolve the issue with the commission.
Once the settlement deal will be assessed by the court, then the details of it would be declared.
It is apposite to note that the global freight forwarding industry has been alleged to be involved in many price-fixing scandals.
