Through higher quality and better images which have been collected from all major Australian cities, Google's Street View is now all set to be completely revamped for the better. Google began the update of its Street View coverage of Australia some time back, and starting this month, Street View cars are hitting the Australian roads again, with fresh images from across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth and parts of Tasmania.
"Starting from [this month] in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth and parts of Tasmania, we'll be doing our best to cover as many of Australia's public roads as we can during this summer", shared product manager Andrew Foster in a post on the official Google blog.
Google says that not only are the pictures newer, they are much better in quality. Since its Australian launch in August last year, Google Maps Street View has become an important and much popular navigation service. It is reportedly used by thousands of Australians every day.
Street View is today used in over 100 cities around the globe and while it has been well received in most parts, some think that it is a sophisticated breach of privacy. Some people who want to stop Google from sharing their personal information have taken matters into their own hands, like the incident reported from a small English village in April where residents formed a human chain to stop one of Google's cars equipped with a camera from passing through.
