Buoyed by the success of products like Beat and Spark, the Indian subsidiary of the American auto major, General Motors is currently celebrating the second anniversary of its Talegaon plant in Pune, Maharashtra.
It is to be mentioned here that the company has an annual capacity of producing close to 1.4 lakh units per annum at this unit and is currently working on a plan to plans to start the 160,000-unit Powertrain (Engine) Plant in the Talegaon plant itself.
While the company expects to start this new unit by the end of this year but the fact of the matter is, the Talegaon unit has been one of the most integral part in the success of GM in the Indian market.
P Balendran, Vice-President, GM India said that the Talegaon unit has been very important in meeting the high demand of the Indian consumer. In fact, Balendran also mentioned the fact that as the company has recently started the second shift at the plant, it will even help the company to gain a better hold of the consumer in the times to come.
