After the recent demo of the Portal 2 co-operative gameplay at the game’s booth on the PAX Prime 2010 showroom floor, Valve has now released a few cinematically composed co-op screenshots of the forthcoming game.
At the PAX show, Valve showed off some awesome mechanics of the Portal 2 - the much-awaited sequel of the first-person puzzler, Portal - including “Ping tool”, a new feature aimed at facilitating player communication. The game also boasts the integration of the Paint Tool, which essentially enables players to mark the setting with potential Portal hot-spots via color-specific on-screen indicators.
One of the other highlights of the Portal 2 co-op campaign is that it is built of a type of formalization of the passive help offered by secondary parties in sessions of the original Portal; with guiding role being played by girlfriends, boyfriends, children, and even parents serving as main inspirations.
The Portal 2 co-op robots are fitted with a full suite of comic as well as endearing gestures in equal parts. Interestingly, during the entire course of the demo, the orange- and blue-eyed bots could be seen waving, hugging, and performing victory dances!
Furthermore, Portal 2’s co-op campaign is notably different from the game’s single-player; with the length of each campaign being running two times the entire length of the original Portal.
