Major surveyors done by the market research company ICM stated that broadband advertising are usually "misleading" and "confusing".
The Telegraph report states nearly 90 per cent of them are left perplexed by most of the Internet Service Providers' with facts such as "up to" speeds, which in major cases prove to be theoretical numbers that rarely reach the stated mark.
Facts state that nine out of ten polled are uncertain of the fact about the broadband speed that they get.
The increase in double digit packs either growing up to 20mbps, 24mbps or above, hints that average broadband speed in actuality never attains even a third of the promised transfer rate.
Unsurprisingly almost all the surveyors amended the advertising rules to an "up to" speeds reflecting of the fact what a user might aim for.
VirginMedia has brought a webpage named as speed honesty where it offers speed limits for its package over 24 hours.
The latest advancement was released on July 2010 and hinted that users should be able to receive 90 per cent or more of the advertised speed or might have to face charges.
