The casting for the 36th season of "Saturday Night Live" has just got over with four new performers being hired and one who was hired last year getting dropped, according to a person with firsthand information about the planning of the show, who was not allowed to talk on the matter by NBC.
Jenny Slate, who had joined the show last year, will not get her contract extended for the new season. Meanwhile Will Forte, who has been a part of "Saturday Night Live" as a performer and writer for eight seasons, made a recent announcement of his departure.
The new performers who will be joining the upcoming season are Taran Killam, a well known face as an actor and comedian on sketch shows like "Mad TV" and "Nick Cannon Presents: Wild 'N Out", and even in comedies like "Scrubs" and "How I Met Your Mother"; Paul Brittain and Vanessa Bayer, who perform at the iO Improv Theater in Chicago; and Jay Pharoah, comedian and impressionist.
The season premiere of "Saturday Night Live" will be aired on 25th September. It will be hosted by Amy Poehler, with Katy Perry as the musical guest.
