One cannot show its back to the fact that the market leader in the Indian market, Maruti Suzuki is facing a very high level of competition from the competition in the Indian market, but it has got Maruti all the more aggressive.
After launching the CNG models in five of its models, Alto K10 and the A-Star automatic, the company is now working on launching the low-cost version of the small car Alto. It has been learned from the sources that the upcoming model will be 20-25% cheaper to that of the current variant of the product selling in the Indian market. The vendors supplying components to the company are of a view that the product will be launched by the second half of 2011.
Market watchers are of a view that the Nano launch has ensured that the company explores the new price point that the small car segment offers. There is no denying that if the company has to enter the ultra low-cost segment, perhaps Alto is the strongest brand which can ensure its success in the same.
However, the company has refused any such development and has said that it is not working on such a plan so far.
