In a shocking incident, that took place in the north Queensland community, a 15-year-old boy is now facing the court in Cairns after he was charged with an attack which left a tourist in hospital.
The arrest was made in the remote community of Bamaga after the police flew there over the weekend following information on the attack from members of the public.
The boy thereafter faced the Cairns Children’s Court on Monday on charges of robbery accompanied with violence, assault occasioning bodily harm and assault with intent and was remanded in custody to reappear at a much later stage.
The boy attacked a 20-year-old German woman when she was walking home from a Cairns nightclub some time after midnight on the 7th of September.
The boy allegedly attacked in the ground of Cairns State High School although it is not known as to how the woman and her attacker were present at that place.
She was located outside the school grounds around 1:35 am (AEST) without her handbag and injuries on the head. She, however, has no memory of the attack.
