The Central Lake Trust in Queenstown, yesterday, celebrated a quite significant milestone after it made an announcement concerning offering $1 million in grants to the Waikatipu Trails Trust for 87km Queenstown Trail.
This was the 10th grant worth $1 million or over that the trust had granted in no more than 10 years’ time.
Paul Allison, Trust Chief Executive, said that the grant as well took contributions to the Central Otago community valued at almost $50 million ever since its initiation in the year 2000, on 1st November.
No less than 1,500 applicants reaped benefits from the grants money.
For the term 2001-02, the trust offered $1 million in grants to the Central Otago District Council for the Alexandra swimming pool, and in 2003-05, $1.05 million was forwarded to the Alexandra Cultural Centre Trust.
Then in 2004-05, $1 million was granted to the Goldfields Museum Charitable Trust.
In the same year, $2 million was received by Central Otago Health and in the following year, the Living Options Charitable Trust received $1 million in grants.
The Queenstown Lakes District Council for Alpine Aqualand was offered $2 million in grants, where half the amount was given in 2005-06 and the rest in the subsequent year.
