Parents Criticize Health Ministry Policy

Health-policyDuring a court trial in 2008, Ministry of Health policy was criticized by the parents who argued that the hours of care their adult children required was not paid because of this policy.

Parents argued that extremely intimate care was required by their children with various disorders but the start of care given by the caregivers sent to their home was not up to the mark. So the parents prefer to take care of their children by themselves.

It was not just about sending the experienced and good caregivers but the case was also about freedom of choice for the adult children who do not want caregivers to take care of them, rather they prefer their parents to be their caregivers.

The verdict of court was in favor of families who won the case and they became very happy. However, disappointing news soon arrived when the announcement was made by the crown that the case is now in the High Court.

In January, seven families had won a milestone case in the Human Rights Review Tribunal but after that the case was dragged to the higher court, where they had experienced more complications.

According to the Crown, this case shows that not only these seven families but there are many things which are at stake.

So the health Ministry should definitely take a bold step and must change its frame work of providing health services.
