According to a recently conducted study, people suffering from obesity just don't tend to harm their health with the extra kilograms; but even burn a deep hole in their pockets. The study that has been conducted at the George Washington University has stated the same.
The study has revealed that the loss in productivity due to sick days and gasoline end up amounting $4,879 for obese women and $2,646 for men suffering from obesity on an annual basis. This is a cost that looks gigantic when compared to the costs for overweight people.
It was found that overweight women lost $524 and men lost $432 annually at their jobs, because of being overweight. The report that released these statistics was published on Tuesday.
The difference in sexes has been suggested because of the difference between the pay-packet of large women and skinny women. The study found that women, who were skinny, earned more than women who were obese or overweight. Whereas, men did not show any difference in pay packets despite, difference in their weights.
Christine Ferguson, co-author and health policy Professor of the study stated the findings. They had thought that everyone who was obese would suffer equally, financially. But the study has proved that men happen to be an advantaged lot.
