Technology giant Kingston has in a first introduced USB 3.0 flash drives that are quicker and much bigger in capacity as compared to their predecessors. The name of the new range of flash drives released by Kingston has officially been coined as The DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0.
The reading speed for the DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 in tests has notched up an 80Mb/sec and a write speed of 60Mb/sec. The flash drives would be available in different models and would have different sizes according to different needs. There would specifically be three models, a 16GB flash drive that would cost $159, a 32GB that would cost $235 and a 64GB model that would cost $459.
Kingston would be bundling along a Y cable as well. The bundled Y-cable would ensure that all the systems with USB 2.0 port are able to work with the USB 3.0 flash drives. The distributors for the flash drives in New Zealand would include Simms, Ingram Micro and Synnex.
According to further internal tests conducted by Kingston, it was revealed that a movie of the size of 3.9GB was transferred to the drive in 1 min 13seconds. While conducting the writing test, the drive was able to transfer a DVD of the size of 4.4GB to a hard disk in 1min 23seconds.
